"Illustrated in pen, pencil drawings, showing scenes from the bird ,fruit and flower markets near Notre Dame in 1960s
This is a simple story ,focused on a turtle and a crow interacting with the vendors ,customers, local café owners.
This is primarily a children's book but encapsulates the atmosphere of this little corner of Paris ,as it once was.
Always worth reading (out loud) to remind us just why Paris is so Parisien!
Rather poignant due to depiction of the Notre Dame, as she was.
My copy is a hardback original from1962, slightly sepia-tinted pages which are of slightly thicker paper than modern and I found it left behind, discarded, after a car boot sale had packed up, and have treasured it ever since."
