"This is really two novels, back to back. One set in Venice & the other in India. I read it shortly after I returned from a trip to India & was astounded that the description of the hotel was the actual one we stayed in, in Varanasi. Not only that, he described the very room we were in!! It was a small room at the back with no windows (we couldn’t afford the other rooms!)"
